Hi All,

Have recenty competed a rewire on my Classic and my fuel gauge (new "best quality" Chinese job) isn't registering. The gauge registers when the sender is by-passed, so it doesn't look like it's that....but who knows?

I suspect it's the sender but finding a new one is like looking for hen's teeth. Has anyone had this problem, and how did you fix it?

Regards

If your new Gauge is a generic after-market product .. there could be a few things wrong.

1. Original RRover-classic used a voltage regulator for it's fuel-gauge .. which means lover Voltage on your instrument .. error in accuracy. Rather feed 12V staight from Ign-Switch.
2. Sender-resistance are either directly or indirectly proportional to the fuel level .. your Chinese version might just be the opposite.
3. The Sender-resistances (variable resistor) used by different manufacturers is mostly never the same.
4. The Sender-resistances used by different manufacturers could be linear or logarithmic.

Hope it helps ..
