Morning Bernard

I am trying to find out the info on my 1990 110 V8 so that I can start restoration work on it and when looking up the Vin number it tells me that it was a prototype as the vin is only 6 numbers long.Coud you please tell me who or how I can get all the info on this vehicle.

Thank you

The six number Vin was used when Landies were still built in Cape Town with galvanised chassis. Because of our "history" they were not official Landies, built out of spare parts. But a '90 V8 should basically have the low compression V8, LT85 Lightweight gearbox, LT230T transfer (1.41 ratio), Salisbury rear axle with drum brakes and heavy duty suspension (no self leveling on the rear A frame like the British County SW, but heavier duty springs), Rover front diff with straight splines in the diff side, and perhaps a Gemmer (6-bolt) steering box. It should already have a smooth roof (no external ribs). If it has aircon it will be the locally engineered Dan-air (or such) system only freezing you knees :-)
I have a 89 V8 110 that-used-to-be-a-County SW, VIN 365905, one of the last with the external ribbed roofs (what was already old stock at that stage:-).
