Greetings All,

I am contacting you in regard to the NOPD 8th District’s 2010
Southern Decadence/ Labor Day Weekend partial street closures for the
French Quarter area. Due to the high capacity pedestrian traffic that
will be expected on Bourbon Street, partial street closures shall
apply to the following streets:

River-bound street closure: St. Ann @ Dauphine Street

Lake-bound street closures:

St. Louis @ Royal Street
St. Peter @Royal Street
Orleans @ Royal Street

These closures shall take effect starting Friday, September 3rd
through Sunday, September 5th from 10:00 PM through 4:00 AM. These
junctures shall be manned by police personnel to ensure that these
closures are maintained. Residents, employees and hotel guests
traveling via livery coach or taxi will be admitted. It is important
that you be prepared to show proof of residency (driver’s license,
hotel employment or travel itinerary).Taxis and livery services will
be allowed into these affected areas with respect to not crossing
Bourbon Street at above mentioned areas. Should you have any
extenuating circumstances, there will be officers assigned to the
above listed closures ready to assist you. There will be no access
passes issued for this event.

On behalf of the eighth District and New Orleans Police
Department, have a safe and Southern Decadence and Labor Day Weekend!

Best regards,

Officer Roger J. Jones Jr.
