I have got LovdByLess working on a Windows Vista Machine :D however I
may have missed something when installing and configuring
ThinkingSphinx as I am unable to search or go into admin.

I have tried the following

1) Unzipped the downloaded Sphinx file and opened the bin folder.
Copied all the files and pasted them in the ruby/bin folder. If some
files are already existed in ruby/bin folder, I did not replace them.

2) Installed the Thinking Sphinx plugin

ruby script/plugin install git://github.com/freelancing-god/thinking-sphinx.git

3) Installed it as a windows service

searchd --install --config C:\Sphinx\sphinx.conf --servicename
SphinxSearch

I now need help on what to do from then on

I have tried to rake thinking_sphinx:index but in the same directory
but it cannot build the task.

Also what should I index in the models?

Any Help would be much appreciated

Many Thanks

Ajay

Did you tried to use the .conf file inside lovd project?

I did it a while ago, but i dont remember the right steps

i got some notes here that says something like:

indexer --config C:\InstantRails-1.7-win\InstantRails\rails_apps\lovdbyless\config\development.sphinx.conf --all

Hmm I tried that and got:

using config file 'C:\ruby\lovdbyless\config
\development.sphinx.conf'...
indexing index 'profile_core'...
collected 2 docs, 0.0 MB
collected 0 attr values
sorted 0.0 Mvalues, 100.0% done
sorted 0.0 Mhits, 100.0% done
total 2 docs, 34 bytes
total 0.297 sec, 114.43 bytes/sec, 6.73 docs/sec
distributed index 'profile' can not be directly indexed; skipping.

the pages now return

NoMethodError in HomeController#index
undefined method `define_index' for #<Class:0x5ef91b0>

:(

I feel like an idiot. I spent too much time on looking for errors I
forgot to check if the
Vendor/plugins/thinking-sphinx actually had any files in!!! Once I
copied the files over and
restarted the Thinking_Sphinx server and the Webrick Server It all
worked great :)

Thanks for the help
