Greetings all-
I finally purchased a new set of cast iron rotors from Mike Brotherwood for S1 Eleven and when I tried them several weeks back I experienced substantial rear wheel lock up/noise etc-during the meeting -I kept shifting bias on the brake bias bar and whist it improved it substantially I was not able to achieve the same level of smoothness as previously- I am using Carbotech Panther Plus 1108 which are a grade up over my previous pads –I have been using the CPP1108 front and rear for about 2 years without any problem on the steel rotors-has anyone used the Carbotech pads or experience with this issue please
Thanks Peter Yeomans

Ps yes it is true what the various articles say- cast iron retards/pulls up much better than steel!
Dear Peter,
I think you have probably answered your own question!
Regards,
JWW
I have run Carbotech Panther "CTGD-AX6" pads on my S1 for years and have never had a lock-up problem.

Jeff, Are your discs (rotors) steel or cast iron?

John and Jeff thanks for feed back-
firstly re John’s comments- what has me concerned re the balance bar is that I am now virtually at the maximum of adjustment never experiencing the issue previously-
re Jeffs comments I am using a higher retarding pad this time having changed from the type you have mentioned-
-I am also waiting feedback from Carbotech as I believe a Lotus 15 had the same problem some years back which was resolved by using the lower grade in the rear as these carbon ceramic type of pads are just a bit too strong for light cars.
Peter
I use KFPR5504/5 pads on all the XI’s that I look after, they work well.
