Subject: What makes an Eleven 'eligible'?
Hi everybody

What makes a Lotus Eleven eligible for races such as LeMans, Mille
Miglia, and others races where not everybody that owns an Eleven and
wants to participate is allowed to do so?
Specifically I am wondering if the car needs competition history in
that specific race, ie if only those Elevens (specific chssis #s)
which were raced in period in LeMans are eligible to do so now. If
not, does the Eleven need to be a LeMans eleven to enter LeMans or
Mille Miglia, or would a Club or Sports be allowed to enter?

Thanks in advance

The invitations to compete at Le Mans Classic 2010 have just been sent
out.  The Lotus Eleven is eligible as usual.  There is no mention of
the model (Le Mans,Club or Sport).  The entry fee is 4,400 Euros if
you pay by 15th December (4,900 thereafter).  However the regulations
say that "A monthly meeting of the Selection Commitee will be held
from 15 December 2009 on, to choose the cars".  So the organisers
decide whose applications to accept.  If you are interested an email
to competit...@lemansclassic.com should get you an entry pack.  Peter
Auto is organising the event with the ACO as usual.

A cheaper option which several owners of Lotus Elevens took up in 2008
was laps of the circuit on Saturday morning.  For next year these will
cost 120 Euros for two or three (?) laps.  At least one member of this
Lotus History group took part last year and he may be able to tell you
how much he enjoyed the experience.  These laps are bookable as part
of the Clubs package (Historic Lotus Register and Club Lotus France
are among the clubs planning to take part).

I think that the Mille Miglia arrangements are slightly different and
possibly more strict about accepting only cars with exceptional
provenance.
