Hi Viv,
Which Series One Lotus Seven have you got?
The answer is that I’ve seen both – fuse box behind and fuse box in front of dashboard.
In the end it boils down to space. By the time you’ve got speedo, tacho, oil pressure, water temperature, ammeter, key ignition, starter button (optional), light switch, horn/dip switch, windscreen wiper/washer (optional), indicator switch (optional), radiator fan switch (optional – place under dash); there is not much room for regulator and fuse box side-by-side. Fitting the fuse box in front and the regulator immediately behind the dashboard some space is saved and although tight it can be achieved.
So the decision is most definitely yours.
There are some pictures on my web site at www.lotus7register.co.uk which may help you.
Regards,
JWW
