Hi Chris,
A couple years ago I took a tour of various hackerspaces in Europe.
When I got back I wanted to start one here, but I got side tracked by
a new business.
Three years later... Null Space Labs!
Its funded by myself and a couple of core members "key holders" who
have 24hr access to the place. People are welcome to stop by as long
as there is someone to open and close.
We have only been open for 6 weeks, but for the last couple of weeks
there have been people there almost every week night.
We don't really encourage anything, that is to say the lab doesn't
give creative direction.
In the last 6 weeks we have had people working on:
beverage cooling contraption (for fun)
target sensor (for new business)
discovered flaw in bi-lock contacted manufacture, info to be release Aug 1st
etc...
Also have had some classes... we did intro to Arduino (that was very fun)
How to solder (even had a soldering comic.

We also do some purely social things.
We meet up on the 2nd Thursday of the month to do Art Walk
http://www.downtownartwalk.org/
Last week some people got together for a True blood marathon.
Yesterday some of us got there early to watch the Laker game before
our normal Tuesday meeting.
All this is going on while we are still working on infrastructure. We
are finding we need more ethernet drops, we want to put lights on
their own switches, build more tables etc...
Also working on better method than foursquare to show when someone is around.
Its a work in progress.... thats probably not gonna change any time
soon, and thats sort of what I like about it.
Hope ya can swing by.
Cheers,
-M
