I have thousands (>9000) of "flash cards" with medical terminology
I've typed into excel. I find the excel format with columns and rows
very easy to use (Similar to iflash) where we can keep track of
numbers and such.

I am trying to download my excel files into iflash.
I have saved the document as a .txt as well --- and can download it
into iflash, it just gets screwed up with all the formats.
My flash cards are arranged as such:

Column 1 Column 2
ROW 1: Card 1 side 1 Card 1 side 2
ROW 2: Card 2 side 1 Card 2 side 2
ROW 3: Card 3 side 1 Card 3 side 2
etc.

The comma-separated values allows for each card to be downloaded, but
puts both Side 1 and Side 2 in the .txt file into only SIDE 1 for
iflash. Similar problems with the other formats.

I think the best bet is to use CUSTOM-FORMAT.
However, I can only download one card into iflash.
None of the other cards on rows 2-20... will download.
The problem lies with "ENTER CARD SEPARATOR".

I have tried <enter> and <return> but neither have worked.
I have tried <enter><enter> and it still doesn't work.
Does anyone know how to download the other cards in rows 2 onward?

I am more than happy to share my medical cards and other cards i've
made with others, i just don't want to have to type them in again.

thanks, k

Could you please post a sample of how the CSV file looks after being exported from Excel? Just a few line would suffice.

Excel tends to export CSV files with semicolons as separators (instead of commas).

Kind regards,

Just in case anyone else would like to know...
for excel, <break> = go to next row
I ended up going to CUSTOM FORMAT:
Enter card separator: <break>
Enter side separator: <tab>
Enter break separator: leave blank
If you would like to have multiple lines within the same side, I'd
recommend putting <space><space> for a new line under the Enter break
separator. That way you can still put in full sentences with one
<space> between words before going onto the next line.
I hope people find this helpful.
It also helps in STORING / CREATING your data first on an excel file
and then transferring it into iFlash. That way you can still save
all
your data easily on an USB drive - just in case the computer crashes
and you'd like to save the flash cards for later.
