But both options work only for tracks that aren't DRM'd.

Since it plays in iTunes on your box it will play in iTunes on her
box. But I wouldn't say she needs iTunes specifically for playing it.
Many media players can play MPEG-4 files. For the second question;
yes, you can easily change it into a format that would work on her
setup. Open the file in some audio editing applications and go "Save
As" or "Export" to save it in a different format ("that would work").
Mp3 is the most commonly used and works anywhere.
Here's more on MPEG-4: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG-4

I do have Ableton Live on here...would that do it? (Hey, I'm just this
acoustic piano guy!)
BTW, the song is Declan by Jeff Beck (from "Who Else!")...a celtic tune
complete with Irish flute. Beck can make his guitar scream like a
locomotive/chicken, but also sing so tenderly!

Please note: I didn't say "pull down the File menu" but rather
"context menu".
B.
On my PC iTunes, I don't see any "context menu." The only Menu columns
I have are File, Edit, Controls, View, Store, Advanced, Help, and I
don't see "context" in any of those.
I did find something else, "Convert selection to AAC." I did that and
draggged it to the desktop, and now it says: "MPEG Layer 3 Audio."
Probably not MP3, ??.
Anyway, life's good, and I do have other things to do! Thanks, David

See

The official translation of MP3 is "MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3", so chances
are this is an mp3.

Unfortunately I didn't manage to download the mp3 then, and I don't
manage now, because "This user is out of bandwidth", which I can
understand...
I actually don't change addresses. Just stick to that original
address you have of me (the xmlizer thingy). My multiple personality
schtick is actually to disarray spammers.
Looking forward to an opportunity to listen to this track...

Yes, I think you're right. Interesting: I did the "Convert selection to
AAC" and ended up with a 2.3MB file. Just now I went into iTunes
Preferences and selected Import Using MP3 Encoder, re-imported from the
CD and ended up with a 4.6MB file. So if I want something smaller to
send, looks like "Convert" option is best (haven't yet heard from my
friend if it plays ok at her end).
Question: am I breaking the law? Will Jeff Beck come knocking at my
door? (Hope he brings his guitar!)
Thanks, David
Because many people have problems with HTML mails. To avoid annoying
them even more, simply turn off HTML, or "Rich Text", as the
preference for your e-mail client. Send as Plain Text to lists.
Thanks, I'd heard of that issue a few years ago, and can dig it.
Someone on another list ranted that those who couldn't read HTML were on
"antiquated machines and needed to upgrade," which was a pretty
absurd/petty argument!
