All of the wars which we have fought and won in history and other
memorable events pale into insignificance and do not count worth a

The marathon level prince Aztec game went badly. I fell to fifth place

started another marathon game at noble level as India. It is working

The India settler level game is going well. As of 1130 AD, I had
finished 53 technologies of which the latest is Rifling. I had 28
cities. Everybody is Buddist sitting around singing Kumbah Ya. I have
evil plans to win this game early by world conquest. I will implement
them after I have tanks and railroad a couple hundred turns from now.
My unadjusted score is 1848 ranking well above Mongols @502, Romans
@474, Americans @451, Russians @450, and English at 434. The other
five are no-count with a total of 26 cities among them. On the other
hand, the top 5 have only 33 cities, so I may gobble top down rather
than bottom up when I start making war. I lack stone so that may be a
deciding factor on who I conquer first. My ranking for soldiers is
814k versus the next highest of 140k. So I already have military
strength of the top 5 combined, but it is dispersed protecting 28
versus 33 cities. So far as cities go I have 6 mature, 3 teenagers,
and 19 children. I have plans for another dozen cities in the howling
wilderness of the northwest mountain country, a source of annoying
barbarians. Conquest can wait for railroad, tanks, and perhaps even
airports for logistic support to deliver missionaries to conquered
cities.

The India settler level game is going very well. As of 1508 AD I have
53 cities and am just a few technologies away from finishing the tech
tree. If you are interested in playing this scenario to compare your
ability with mine, the start is 4000 BC four cows and the current game
save is AD 1508 files uploaded here. I anticipate end of game within
the next 100 turns either by election in the UN or by space race
completion. My unadjusted score is 5072 versus English 944, Romans
934, Americans 869, Russians 824, Mongols 816, and less than that for
the bottom five.

The game ended by diplomatic victory on the first UN vote in 1523-24.
My raw score was 5429, adjusted to 31824 rated top of rankings as
Augustus Caesar. I am going to play India again at the next difficulty
level up and expand more aggressively. The tax burden for too many
cities was never a serious problem in the last game. In the new game I
intend to run 20 percent tax burden for break-even gold rather than
always going 100 percent science. More cities makes more science even
with higher taxes...

To get a replay of the game, load the file "AD 1523 I win" and go to
next turn. Watch the pink plague spread! There were no wars at all,
although I gained a few cities from AI players by cultural domination.
It helps to have all 7 religions, and I spent a LONG 35 turns just
building missionaries for cities 1-34. After that I just built a few
and concentrated on military for new cities while developing the first
34. I had 70 workers, sufficient for 2 per city for the first 35, and
of course as a city was completed the workers moved onwards to
concentrate on newer cities.

Most of the time I had three military per city, concentrating the more
powerful units at the borders to fight off barbarians. In the next
game I will try two per city on interior cities, allowing for faster
expansion.

had a good set of monasteries for missionary work and culture growth.
The next war is with Germany in 150-250 turns to gain Versailles and
the last two holy cities. I also get gold, silver, and sheep to trade
with possibly aluminum and uranium. I lack coal but expect that I can
get it from America, Persia, China, or Mali. An alliance has formed
between America, Persia, and Mali which puts them temporarily off
limits for war. Germany has ben ramping up its military quite
significantly, cutting my lead to plus 30% or so, but I expect them to
war on the Romans, making the ultimate territory gain from my war on

In 1671 I traded Radio to the Americans. On the next turn they built
the wonder RockNRoll which requires Radio. Since that was blatant
cheating, which I will not tolerate, I have decided not to play any
more, at least for a while. The cheating probably is turned on by
difficulty level and game situation. I will investigate comments from
others about the game before making a final decision. I DO know that
earlier versions of Civilization cheated on building wonders, but I
thought that the cheating was no longer a part of game play in this
version.

I got tired of fighting barbarians and started a settler level game.
Uploaded files are the two LCC11 ones at 3985 BC and 1000 AD. I have
16 cities and am 41580 points ahead in research level. Everybody is
sitting around singing Kumbaya. I am going to war when I get riflemen
because four civilizations are crowding my territory. I have all the
religions and wonders, with two high production cities building
wonders. Scores-cities are ; Me 1598-16, Russia 475-6, China 440-7,
Persia 419-5, Egypt 417-5, Inca 401-4, English 392-3, Greeks 370-7,
Americans 367-5, Germans 360-6, Romans 330-4.
I got five settlers from villages early on, which greatly helped my
progress.

I eliminated the Romans, Egyptians, and English but my score if I
accept a win is below 30000. So I am going to continue taking over AI
civilizations until I can get a good score. I have 86 cities at 1639.
I have researched future technology two.

I eliminated the Inca and have 100 cities now, but my score would only
be 23229 if I chose diplomatic victory. The raw scores and cities
are ; Me 7380-100, Chinese 1307-15, Greek 1266-14, Russia 1238-9,
America 1198-11, Persia 1103-11, and Germany 996-11. I am going 100%
tax to pay for buildings in conquered and new cities, with an income
per turn of 4201. I would have more but cities 70 through 100 need
missionary work, a priority for building when I can get them to work.
A failed missionary or two is okay but 50% failure is not. A typical
population one city has cost of 5 or 6 while four trade routes bring
in 8, ground coins are one or two, and if missionaries established all
seven religions that would add 17 income. I am buying granary, forge,
and factory now, with theatre and library for culture if it is a
border city. I stopped buying courthouses when I realized that the buy
cost exceeded the taxes saved for probably the rest of the game...

I have 232 workers, 244 mechanized infantry, and 72 modern armor.
Typically the AI has a long bowman and pikeman or two plus a few
miscellaneous gunpowder units. The worst that I face are riflemen,
because they do not have the technology for infantry. My power rating
is 11604k versus 401k for the most powerful AI. My other statistics
are ; GNP 913 versus 419, MFG 4062 versus 119, Crop 3292 versus 202,
Land 2015k versus 347k, and population 401828k versus 3789k. I have an
imports/exports rating of 1305/158, but since I have so many more
cities than the AI, the primary cities in my civilization trade with
each other rather than having foreign trade routes.

I plan to go to war with Catherine of Russia when the Inca cities are
out of revolt. The war will take only one or two turns. Then I will
take out Bismarck of Germany. then after a pause for missionary work
and buying buildings, I will take out Alexander of Greece and the
Chinese. That leaves the Americans and Persians. If my adjusted score
is going up rather than down, I will pause to let it hit 30000,
otherwise I will finish them off to have a conquest victory...

The uploaded file is LCC11 AD-1650.

I had a world domination victory with no option to refuse in 1652,
rating of Augustus Caesar. Now I am searching for a good start to play
another settler level game, using what I know about barbarians, and
not making the mistake of conquering the low population western
territory.

I found a reasonable start at settler level, uploaded as LCC12
BC-4000. At 500 AD I uploaded as LCC12 AD-0500. Status as score and
cities is : Me 1265-13, Russia 348-7, Rome 343-5, Aztecs 323-6, Greeks
323-5, Egypt 323-4, Mali 307-5, Inca 292-3, America 288-4, Saladin
276-5, and Japan 230-4. I have done all missionary work except Islam
and city 13. I am ready to expand again as soon as I get gunpowder
units in about 20 plus turns. I got five of my first six cities from
village settlers. Then I expanded until I had twelve cities at 40
percent tax break even. For a long time I have just been developing
the land of my twelve base cities with 21 fast workers. Now that the
land is almost fully developed, it is time to expand again. I have had
two great prophets for my seven religions. With that holy site income
I am able to go zero percent tax at minus 22 gold. Occasionally I
trade a technology to the AI players to subsidize my deficit...

I uploaded file LCC12 AD-1374 to celebrate the beginning of my third
golden age. I have finished building cities at number 37. Now I need
to build missionaries, with five of seven religions paying cash.
Status in score and cities is : Me 3333-37, America 652-8, Rome
613-10, Greece 612-7, Arabia 593-8, Egypt 589-7, Aztec 588-8, Russia
575-9, Inca 566-6, Mali 514-7, and Japan at 383-6. I did scientific
method and biology much earlier than usual, so my cities are much
bigger than usual. I will probably take a diplomatic victory when I
get the technology and build the United Nations within 150 turns. I
expect only one war or possibly two, versus Egypt and Russia. I am
definitely on track for a score over 30000...

I won by diplomatic victory in 1460 with score of 42817 rating
Augustus Caesar. The game took only 56 hours 13 minutes, about a third
of the usual. At end game I had 38 cities, 27 workers, 3 cavalry, and
171 infantry. Uploaded file is LCC12 AD-1459 I win. Check it out by
going to next turn and play the movie to see the pink Indian empire
spread. Although the previous game was 100 cities, this game had a
much higher score due to the early end, 202 turns sooner. I could have
had an even higher score above 45000 if I had built the United Nations
sooner. So that is my target for the next game : before 1460 and score
above 45000. There were no wars in this game. Maybe next game I will
have a war or two...

I got tired of fighting barbarians, so I started a custom game with no
barbarians and random number seed reset upon load. It is noble level
with 10 custom loaded AI since I am also tired of Tokugawa, Montezuma,
and the Mongols. Game start is uploaded as LCC13 BC-4000 and status
currently as LCC13 BC-1780. With the random number reload, I had a
good run of technology from villages. I am ahead in Writing, Monarchy,
Iron Working, Monotheism, Alphabet, Mathematics, Construction, and
Currency. Two AI have but will not trade Sailing. Status in score and
cities is : Me 264-3, Persia 157-3, Mali 145-3, Germany 123-2, China
122-3, England 120-2, Russia 119-3, Rome 110-2, Arabia 109-2, Spain

730-11, England 718-12, America 659-12, China 640-9, Rome 628-11,
Spain 581-10, and Arabia 540-8. Game is uploaded as LCC13 AD-1304.
With no barbarians and all civilizations Buddist, I am very light on
military with some cities only an axe-man. I plan to research
Chemistry, Nationalism, Constitution, and Corporation, then Democracy
Scientific Method, Biology, and Medicine. Mali stands out of the crowd
in technology, with Divine Right, Philosophy, Paper, Guilds, Printing
Press, and Astronomy. I am ahead of everybody in Banking, Education,

Although my score is high, prospects for a diplomatic victory soon are
low in 1536. The current file is LCC13 AD-1536. Scores and cities

112-11, China 987-15, and Arabia 907-9. The Chinese have made war on
Persia and are now successfully at war with Germany. I think that my
first war will be with Mali. In technology I am ahead in Physics,
Medicine, Steam Power, Assembly Line, Railroad, Combustion, Flight,
Electricity, and Refrigeration. I have finished all missionary work in
my cities. I am researching Radio then Mass Media for the United
Nations wonder. My population is 632 of 1636 total, giving me veto
power but a far cry from the 1014 needed for victory. The determining
factor for who to war against is by whoever has biology is a target.

I found a reasonable start uploaded as LCC14 BC-4000. However as
revealed by the map of LCC14 BC-0290 the world is resource poor. There
are only 2 incense, 2 spices, 2 wine, 1 dye, and 3 pig. So I am not
going to play it any further. As of 290 BC I am ahead in technology by
Monarchy, Code of Laws, Theology, Mathematics, Alphabet, Metal
Casting, Compass, Currency, and Literature. I have seven cities, as
much as any AI. But looking at the map, I felt a profound
dissatisfaction regarding the situation. The chance of that map
producing a higher score than LCC13 is about zero. So I am moving

villages I have taken gold. Research options at the last technology
completed (Polytheism) were Monotheism, Alphabet, Code of Laws,

The game has stagnated, uploaded as LCC15 AD-1400. With only 18
cities, I see no way for this game to exceed the score of LCC13.
Problems are lack of gold and silver, lack of resources to trade for
health foods, and lack of wine and dye. I should have given it up when
I had the full map, but I did not see the lack of resources until
recently. So I am giving up this game and moving onwards to LCC16. I
