Hi there,

I run the London Code Dojo, and we've started doing a series of dojos
around the book "Seven languages in seven weeks", of which the first
language is Ruby.

We're having a dojo for the last chapter of the Ruby section next
Tuesday (14 May) at the Draft House pub at Tower Bridge, and we're
missing a Ruby person who knows about metaprogramming to be able to
help out and answer some of us Ruby-newbs questions.

Link here:

If there's anyone who would like to volunteer to come along and help
out, there's our thanks and some tasty food and drinks in it for you!

Much obliged,

Nigel Runnels-Moss

There's several in London!

I'm signed up for the meteor hack event organised by  Nigel Runnels-Moss / @sleepyfox the week after next. There are also python, scala & clojure dojos that I've attended in the past (and which are still running monthly).

Interesting.

I am conflicted about whether to try and drive us towards move code dojo-ing or just doing more social things.

I'm having a lot of fun doing remote pair programming and perhaps that's a better model to satiate my need to program in groups.

Dave, would you ever have open slots to pair program on the faqbot project?  I think that might allow us to make faster progress than waiting for Wednesdays when we both happen to be present.

Also, if we are just going to be chatting on Wednesdays I wonder if it would make more sense to meet in a pub or restaurant.  When we were all doing courses together we really wanted whiteboards and projectors, but now ...

I wonder also if a virtual meeting for the technical component might make more sense ...

I'd be up for trying the remote pair programming. What evenings would suit you?

BTW I started implementing the framework Ben, you and I came up with last time (multiple matchers each returning a fitness value and associated action functions) in python. I'd like to refactor the JS faqbot to work that way.

Refactoring the JS Faqbot sounds good.

In general evenings are not so good for me.  I can made time available 9-5 on weekdays easily.  Wednesday evening is one weekly pass out.  Guess I could be remote pair programming from home on a Wednesday, or even from the meetup if I am at Likely.

I tend to try to get to sleep by 9:30pm so I can be up and doing programming at 5:30am before the kids wake up ...

9am-5pm is not so good as I need to work then.

We could try early morning, I try to be up around 6-6.30am

Early morning could work - although I need to finish at 7:15am to wake the kids up.

Are you going to LRUG tonight?

We could also try Wednesday evening remotes some time ...

I won't be at LRUG tonight - I have to attend a PTA meeting.
Generally, if I'm not there on Wednesday it means I'm taking my daughter to her violin lesson so I'm not at my computer.
