Just a quick note for people who are interested in python: the O'Reilly books 'learning python' and 'programming python' can be downloaded as apps for the iPhone/pad for about £3 each. There are also a load of other O'Reilly books as apps for a similar amount (eg embedded systems, c++ in a nutshell etc).

I don't know if this applies to 'droid phones but hopefully it helps.

Sorry if this has been noted somewhere else

Oh, really? No, O'Reilly!

I'm so sorry.

The downside is that the book is locked to iOS DRM, and you need an iOS
device to view them.

ORA also do DRM-free ebooks. If you follow @OReillyMedia on Twitter, they
even announce one day special offers. I got a load of Nutshell books for
$9.99 each, for example, which read fine on a Kindle, my laptop, etc, etc.

Hi Peter
That is no longer true
No O'Reilly books have drm, even the iPhone apps are a custom stanza app iirc, there is an ePub and plain HTML inside the .ipa file (I just bought one and verified this)
Buying the ebook bundle gives you all three (PDF, mobi and ePub) sometimes an android version and sometimes a daisy accessibility version
Cheers

In a similar vein, I have some old O'Reilly books that are destined for
the charity shop unless anybody wants them. They are:
* Webmaster in a Nutshell
* Python in a Nutshell
* Perl in a Nutshell
* Programming PHP
* C/C++ Programmer's Quick Reference (not O'Reilly).

These are old and probably obsolete, but they are yours, for free. It
would be nice if you donated a 2 litre bottle of diet coke to the space in
exchange, though.

Hi,

I'd happily take the "Python in a Nutshell" off your hands! Doesn't
matter if it's old, I'm not exactly cutting edge with programming.

I'll certainly donate a 2 L bottle of diet coke.

Hi,

I'd be glad to pick up "C/C++ Programmer's Quick Reference". :)

(2L bottle of diet coke)++.

Thanks,

Seyi

Hi,

Just picked up the book. Will have to go outside and find some diet
coke for the space now.
