Hi

In clearing out some computer stuff I have found a number of things
that somebody may find useful:

* Microsoft force feedback joystick - old game port style but with
USB to game port adapter. I haven't used it for years but it seems OK
electronically but could do with some driver software
* VGA monitor extender over CAT-V wiring - place the send and receive
units at the end of some CAT 5 wiring, plug in a computer at one end
and a monitor at the other to get a second display at up to 150m
away. I have 2 sets of this, one is boxed and hopefully complete, the
other is loose and only has one PSU, but it's a fairly standard 5v
unit.
* 2 of Sun SB 1000 workstation - dual SPARC CPU and 4 G RAM and a
pair of 73G FC Disks. These are big power hungry beasts and I doubt
anyone will want them but I thought to ask before I otherwise dispose
of them

I might be interested in the VGA monitor extender. What kind of latency and refresh does it have? Would it be suitable for regular computer use or is it more geared to low refreshing presentation-like situations?

Not sure what happened there but I believe Google Groups is responsible.

how many do you want? I have 2 of them, do you want them both so you
have some spare parts?

I'm not sure about latency - they were used in the office to hook up a
big screen on the wall to a machine in the computer room for systems
monitoring purposes so the display didn't change that quickly

I'd to take one if that's alright.

The VGA monitor extenders might be handy for use in the space, if
there's still one spare can someone drop it in the "useful to hackspace"
box?

Hi there,

If an sb100 was available I'd like to play with one.

Thanks,
Bernard

I have a number of other old Sun Sparc gear tht I will be getting rid
of soon, ranging from Netra's to 4RU, Quad socket servers

I will try to bring the SB1000s to the space today along with the VGA
extenders and the old joystick

I'm not about today but would it be possible for you to put one of the VGA extenders in my box please? It's s16b03

@Padski - I have put one of the SB1000's in the space with your name
on it, by the arcade game in the foyer

The VGA extenders are in the 'useful for the space' box - I will keep
a lookout for more of them as we empty out yet more of the office and
save them from the bins

I will try to bring the second SB1000 along later today.

Since there seems to be an unexpected demand for old Sun SPARC kit
can I interest anyone in some others that I have:
* Sun Netra X1 - small 1RU, half length
* Sun Ultra 10 workstation - PC sized box with IDE disks. They were
originally sold with 10-40G disks but I discovered that they will take
upto 120G OK
* Sun Ultra 5 workstation - same mobo as the Ultra 10 in a different
form factor and fewer expansion slots
* Sun Ultra 2 - old sbus workstation - quite nicely engineered for
it's day but more or less all proprietary components
* Sun E420 4RU server - quad processor but not as power hungry as the
SB1000s
* Sun D1000 SCSI storage array - 12 slot takes hot plugable SCA disks
* Sun A5200 FC-AL storage array - 22 slot Fibre Channel disks and 4
GBICs. Can be split into 2 separate 11 slot storage arrays.

I haven't powered up any of this stuff for a couple of years now but
did use them for some serious stuff when I was a contractor
They will all look quite pedestrian by more recent systems

Wouldn't mind a sparc thing if I could pry one out of Paddys' hand?
