Who's interested in me running a workshop on making chainmail? I'm thinking some time next month.

Goal: To teach participants the European four-in-one weave, so they can make cool chainmail accessories/clothing.

I’m not sure how a number can run a workshop. Please enlighten us..

sounds interesting. With metal or the weave with softer materials?

I've done this with pre-made 4mm silver ringlets, its really really easy when you get going. I'd be up for coming along to this!

There's some thin solder-looking-but-not-actually-solder wire that needs to be used because it confuses people. I'm still looking for somewhere to get big reels of ~1mm wire from - if anybody knows, please tell. For my hauberk, I used B&Q/Homebase gardening wire, but that cost £4/50m.

The not-solder wire is flexible enough to be plied by hand, which for teaching purposes would reduce demand on pliers. It would be nice to have a box of jump rings for members to make strong material with. Also, jigs to make the rings will be useful, and I'm trying to make them prior.

"Needs to be used" wire -  I'd quite like some of it for my taxidermy if it's the wire I'm thinking of. If it is, I took home previously to prototype crank-handle automata... then discovered it's copper-core and thought it was too pricey to play with and brought it back.

1.6mm aluminium wire from that very site is what I used to teach
people mail making. It's not strong, but anyone can work it.
