I am finishing a couple of projects finishing up and I have some stuff that I will not use.  I am hoping someone at the space can put it to good use.

I have something like 5 sheets of SPACETHERM BLANKET 10mm pads120cm x120cm. It insulates 2x solid polystyrene foam. Technical term is Silica aerogel materials

Fair warning: This stuff is (cough cough) a challenge to work with.  It is VERY DUSTY.  It puts out a hydrophobic dust that a) gets everywhere b) needs appropriate dust masks to avoid breathing it.

I can bring it to the space for you to take away or you can pick it up in Tower Gateway / Wapping area.

I would advise against working with it in the space as we'll both likely get banned. Did I mention the dust gets everywhere?

MSDS here: http://www.proctorgroup.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=cbxyVe7IH5A%3d&tabid=64&mid=2069

Expressions of interest please.

Matt

Shame there's not a 6th sheet, could make a box otherwise. Will the
cube-sats mentioned in other threads require insulation? It seems this
would be an ideal raw material for future space-travel research.

So I'm certainly interested, and should be in the space tomorrow night
(social).

It would insulate your satellite project since NASA funded the development of aerogels and has used solid blocks of it to collect solar dust. (http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/a_science.php)

There might be 6 or even only 4 sheets.  I don't want to open the plastic bag it's in. (The dust you know)  If you need six of these sheets for your satellite you're sending up a NASA sized project.  This is a fibreglass material 10mm x 1200mm x 1200mm. It is easily cut with scissors or a utility knife.  Then the dust gets everywhere.

Can't make the social tonight unfortunately, but let me know if your consultation with space team indicates you want it.
