Run Jonty Run (Olympic Torch, this Saturday)

This Saturday 21st July the hackspace's own Jonty will be carrying the Olympic torch in Hackney. I hear a few people in the space may have had something to do with this. So come and cheer Jonty along.

Time: 5.30pm
Where: down Rectory Road to Lindens Children Centre

I imagine road travel in the area might be a bit of a mess, so possibly turn up early and go to a nearby pub? Also the police have been a bit aggressive along the torch route, so don't do any trolling that might upset them.

So the plan is 2pm at the Jolly Butchers then 3.5 hours later when we are in no fit state to do anything we stagger along to Rectory Road and throw up all over Jonty?

Well, that was a damn good day. Thanks to all who came out, and - of course - to Jonty. It almost made me not be cynical about the Olympics for a while.

Plenty of photos are on Twitter and Flickr, tagged as #jontylympics.

Reviewing the footage online - which is at http://www.bbc.co.uk/torchrelay/day64 (starting at 17:33) - leaves me with one question. Which one of us put on a Jonty mask and shadowed him just out of range of the Met Police all the way through the relay? I didn't notice you on the day, but well done!

I'll grab and edit it if you like, they seem to be putting the entire
relay on iplayer in regional sections, others may have a better way
though....

I would use get_iplayer. It might require a bit of tinkering but you
can pull streams off specific pages with it. The latest versions are
available from http://git.infradead.org/get_iplayer.git

Well aware of it, but some on the list have even better ways I believe.

Also, it's not on iplayer yet - last is south-east region. I guess it
will have to wait until Friday for London
