I have recently delivered about 20 more to the space, some of which will be borrowed for EMF camp.

It was all at very short notice in that I had to get them out of the office there and then so didn't get to ask the list beforehand.  I have spoken with Jonty about them and would like to offer them to the local school once term starts again which is the week after EMF camp.

Apologies for not pre-asking and just piling them up under the desks.

If the school doesn't want them then I think that most of them will be available for hackers to have

Any more details about these? I may be interested in getting hold of a
bench power supply...

They're these:

There's one set up on each of the soldering stations at the end if you don't see any out.

I'd love one of these if they're going. My old ex-college bench psu gave up the ghost this weekend...

In the unlikely event that any are spare, I would also be incredibly grateful to get my hands on one of these.

Perhaps the hackspace could run a dutch auction for any left over PSUs.

just to keep you updated

The school is interested but I don't how many yet.
Since the school year has just started I am waiting until next week so as to avoid hassling them at such a busy time.

Once they get back to me with the numbers I will update the wiki and post to the list

OK, I have spoken to a 3 people at the school and they all seem very keen and interested but never got back to me.
I have emailed the school office asking them to forward my message to a relevant member of staff but so far nothing, I have chased up on the last email last friday telling them I need them shifted by the end of next week.

If I don't hear anything then from them by friday then I think we should find willing members to find them good homes

thanks for that Simon, I've really been getting into my electronics recently, popped into Maplins at the weekend, thought I'd pick up a 'cheap' one.  Made me realise I should up my bid, didn't realise they were so expensive!

Worse comes to worse though, I'll hack a PC PSU! Not a lot of spare pennies at the moment :(

Simon - were any deemed spare in the end or did I miss the boat?

They all vanished from under the table in the quiet room a while back and some migrated to the workshop and the lefthand electronics bench. I kept meaning to ask myself whether they'd gone and was pondering whether to clear down the wiki page

I was only vaguely hankering after one anyway (which is why my bid was lowish) so it was no biggy.

Nevermind! I was holding off ordering one I'd seen on ebay for £36.99, it seems they've all gone off ebay too now - I'll probably make one from a computer power supply.

Is it worth getting rid of the list Simon?

What do you want out of a bench supply? I've been working on and off at designing a nice (and affordable) bench supply similar to EEVBlog's design, with a goal of being 'headless', operated entirely from a computer over USB, though with an expansion port to add a UI, and able to log current and voltage data at high speed in real time - a test instrument as well as a power supply.

Hi Nick,

Was looking for a variable supply for various arduino projects we've been working on - a friend and I have a workshop we've been trying to kit out.  I looked at EEVBlog but couldn't find the design.

I've seen a few instructables on converting old PC PSUs as they're regulated, so I may well have a go there instead.
