Hi guys,

I've cleared out the third section of the "wood stock" which was always suppose to be for metal, I think. It just got a bit messy.

Could someone more knowledgable on metal/scrap metals please move and organise the metal stock pile into this section? Hopefully this will result in enough space that we can move the welding table to the left and against the wall, making it safer in the workshop and clearer fire exits etc.

Feel free to be utterly brutal in your tidying, organising and clearing out.

Ta :)

I tidied up the metal section a month ago or so I think. I put signs up
to try and keep it organised, but it seems people don't know the
difference between ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Should be in tonight, so will try to make a more specific list and clear
out some of the crap.

There seems to be quite a lot of lightweight tubular steel and pressed
items, some painted or galvanised. A little of this material is
occasionally useful but most is not. Could we concentrate on :

Block / bar stock
Flat sheet of reasonable size
thick tubing

and keep only a very small amount of the low quality stuff please ?

Cool, it should try to be all migrated to the "bin" wooden enclosure now, please, if you're up for the challenge :)

Thanks again!

I didn't manage to get in tonight as my "next day delivery" package
never turned up so left me hanging until too late. That's messed my
timetable up so will see how I can get caught up.

Yeah, I don't keep any more than a foot or two of that stuff in my
personal stock either unless it's got some special fixing attached.
Galvanised is really only handy if it's bolt-through stuff.

Yeah, the metal pile was getting a bit out of hand when I last saw it.
It was pretty difficult to get access to the welding table.

I'll be around tonight and maybe some other evenings this week. More
than happy to help clear and organise the area.
