I think thinking of things in terms of affordances is right on the mark.

For instance, if the sugru was in a container that you had to put a coin in
to open (or just a round coin-like object), like those old fashioned street
corner newspaper vending machines, what do you suppose the payment rate
would be? I'm guessing it would be very high, despite one person
theoretically being able to take everything after inserting one washer.
