I've created a proper pledge page on the wiki. To give us safety room,
will keep it up a week (until Sunday 16th) for interested parties to
join it, then we'll have a *maximum* of 10 days for collecting money and
contributing it to the funding page before the window of opertunity closes.

http://wiki.london.hackspace.org.uk/view/Pledges/MakerSlide

List the amount of slide you're interested in getting, assuming max
price of 12. Even with combined postage, it should likely average out
below that with a couple more folk interested.

I would like 4m, but I am no longer a full member. Can I get in on the action?
i'll either come and collect from the space or humbly ask someone to post it on to me covering all costs obviously.

I have no problem with it personally, though I don't know if there's any
offical rule about it. Any objection from our venerated superiors?

/me dons his trustee hat

We ask you become a member to be able to take advantage of 24/7 access, storage and if you find your self using the space more than occasionally.

Many things like most workshops, Tuesday nights, irc and the mailing list are open to all, so no objection to you joining in on pledges here :) I'm happy to keep your lengths with mine ontop of my box if you like

Got a message back from the guy who's running the camapaign. Adding more
accessory packs to the order shouldn't be a problem. We just need to say
how many accessories and how many meters of slide we need and he'll give
us a specific pledge amount. :)

From the existing pledge amounts a large bag of accessories is about
31 and a small bag is about 17, so assume costs based on that. If we
can combine multiple small bags though into large ones, we can make a
small saving.

Small bag of accessories - 8 Delrin V-Wheel shells, 24 washers and 4
Eccentric spacers.

Large bag of accessories - 16 Delrin V-Wheel shells, 48 washers and 8
Eccentric spacers.

Updated the pledge amounts formatting so Slide and accessory packs are
done seperately with a total. If anyone goes for small accessory packs
it should make rounding items together easier.

Current prices are deliberate over-estimates at maximum possible cost.
It should only be possible to cost less than these initial totals.

Could Sol and Paddy please update their (currently empty) entries on the
accessories listing to include if they're interested in those as well?

The campaign runner is curious to know what sort of projects people are
planning for their bits. :)

Can we have it in 2m lengths now they are going to do them?
It will help relieve the pain of specifying things I don't want..

Just add your name and quantities to the pledge page list.

Oddly enough he's just stated on the fundraising page that 2m lengths
will available to UK only!

Cost is basically double a 1m length, plus 7 additional postage.

Got to admit a 2m square would make a helluva nice CNC cutting table.

Yup, 2m lengths are basically twice the price of 1m lengths, plus an
extra 7 postage per order.
Have noted this on the pledge-page.

I've had to remove myself from the list of those wanting the slide
materials as I've had some unexpected bills come in.

I will still manage the pledge though unless there's a problem with
someone who's not getting something out of it running it.

There's still more than enough pledged to get the maximum discount or more.

Okay, time's up!
After a week, our total interest amounts to:

1m lengths: 16
2m lengths: 7
Small accessory bags: 1
Large accessory bags: 5

So total of 30 meters worth, plus accessories.

I assumed any pledges simply listing a total length and not specifying
1m or 2m types were for the original 1m lengths offered.

I've sent the list off to the organiser and should hear back the custom
pledge amount tomorrow. I suspect it'll be about 460 total as we've
easily topped all stock pledge amounts and are well beyond the max discount.

Sorry

I'm being a bit thick

How do I pay my Makerslide amount?

Do I just do a donation to Hackspace for the amount outstanding or is it more complicated than that?

I forgot to pay too...will now..

And I found this in a previous post by Sci:

Totals are on the wiki and mailing list. Payment procedure is as usual:

use the donate function in the members area. Use reference "MAKERSLIDE".

Well, what I meant was: I will when someone explains how to change the reference from 'webdonate' to 'MAKERSLIDE'...

If there's no comment section it can be put in I'd recommend sending
Russ a separate email to let him know what the payment is for.

Just a heads up that there's been an update on the Makerslide
production. News page is here: http://www.ulule.com/makerslide/news/

In short, the die is complete and the manufacturer is making the first
test extrusions. Current ETA is first week or two of November. So not long!

Kinda gutted I missed this one, having just ordered an Igus rail that does almost the same thing. Do let me know when it arrives - I'm really keen to see how it turns out.

The guy running it has spare - he's currently offering to send extra to pledgers. So you could increase the order if you want, or wait for him to start the shop up.
