OK, this is unacceptable. Oni came in to weld and all the safety gear has missing... the new electronic mask, the red gloves and the apron.

YOU NEVER FUCKING TAKE SAFETY GEAR AWAY!!!!!

Who ever it was, bring it back, and answer the standard questions of why didn't you mail the list. (only to be told no btw).

There is no sign of it in the workshop.

Probably a good thing as the nearest exit is completely blocked by a vehicle...

We think we've tracked it down, but it means we may need to buy more... watch this space.

This is all very mysterious. It's been found outside of the space but it
isn't coming back?

Someone decided to leverage it, so it's been sliced & repackaged,
invested at a book value well below its actual worth, and exported to
the Channel Islands.

This is clealy unacceptable and its time we really do something about this, not just bikeshed and talk about it. I think this is significant enough that we should discuss creating a new wiki entry

I don't think this is an issue we should be voting on, we really should be looking
at achieving consensus on this rather than riding roughshod over the opinions
of the minorities.

If the vote were to be done digitally this wouldn't be an issue, however would bring its own implications such as ensuring the integrity of the vote data and preventing manipulation.

This could be contracted out, Lockheed Martin is a potential candidate with their handling of the 2011 census. All of this would need to be discussed at great length, including the sociopolitical aspects of such a decision and potential ramifications.

The voting should be implemented using redstone in a custom minecraft
map. I feel this is closer to the hackspace ethos than getting Lockheed
Martin involved.

We want to encourage members to use this mailing list as it is an
important tool for being part of the community.

One of the main reasons people cite for not participating on the list
is the high traffic and low SNR. I think this thread exemplifies the
problem quite well.

An update on this issue.

We now understand the welding PPE was taken back by the member it was
on long term loan from.

New PPE will need to be acquired, either as a donation or through the
pledge system. There was an existing pledge for welding equipment,
which has been partially funded - but it may be best to start a new one
as it dates from the start of 2011. Someone will need to volunteer to
organise what equipment needs to be ordered and where from.

As a side note, I'd really like to see us get a proper welding curtain
at the very least, in addition to the PPE.

At this point I'm just going to assume that enough was paid in from
the pledge to cover the equipment (I know a lot of it was paid).

I have ordered a new helmet and gloves. I have also ordered a large
bottle of gas. Both of these things should arrive on Monday.

I'm going to order a welding curtain this afternoon once I've checked it fits.
