Hello!

In sunny Denge, on the south coast, there are sound mirrors: giant, beautiful, concrete monoliths from World War 2 that were designed to amplify the sound of incoming aircraft.

Sunday July 18th is one of the rare days that they're accessible to the public, and there's been talk of taking a big London Hackspace trip down there.

There are no train connections nearby, so we'd need to hire a minibus. I've looked into it pretty exhaustively, and if we can get 15 people, it works out to £20 return - which is actually a damn sight cheaper than most train fares for that distance would be. That includes minibus hire, insurance, petrol, and hopefully a small donation to the folks who run the sound mirror site. Mark has said he'd be willing to drive, although a reserve driver would also be handy!

Here's the plan: Hackspacers will get first refusal, although if we don't get 15 I'll open it up to the wider geek community. If you're interested, drop me an email to t...@tomscott.com (even if you've told me in person...!) - if there's enough interest I'll set up an Eventbrite site to collect moneys.

Cheers!
