Hello all,

this coming Friday from 2pm we're visited by a group of young children and teenager with their parents. We'll be showing them the space, holding a woodcutting workshop and a printmaking workshop, teaching them a few things and helping them make a thing or two. This will likely finish by 5pm.

I.e., it's the second Young Hackspace, this time with Billy Smith and Sam Kelly giving the workshops. [1]

If you're planning to be at the space this Friday: please be considerate of the kids and their safety. Don't leave sharp objects lying around, don't leave open power sources unattended, unplug any heavy machinery when it's not used, etc. Any assistance in keeping things safe is appreciated.

As usual we'll make sure the Hackspace is prepared. We'll do a health & safety check, and may move things around a bit to be on the safe side. (Much of the time the younger kids will be in the Quiet Room, and the older ones in the Dirty Room.)

As before, note that this is not an open invite event, we have limited attendance and are fully booked. We'll do a few more of these to get a sense of what kind of event the Young Hackspace is. Last time we had a lot of demonstrations; this time we're focusing on a teaching session followed by a freeform work session.

Reminder: this is tomorrow. Please don't expect to be able to use the Quiet Room, or the workbenches in the Diry Room, from 1pm-5pm. (This gives us enough time to set things up & clean up afterwards.)

Don't forget that the tanks in the etch bench are full of nasties. Might be an idea to chuck a big sheet of wood across the top.

yus. i'm helping with the event in the workshop, and that was one of
my worries.

I'll sort that out.

Though there are at least two of the teenagers who are interested in
how PCB etching works.

If you've got time to do it properly, a wooden cover that locates in the tray and has a cutout for the tap would be pretty good.

Indeed. That would save making the hole for the drips, as the pony could drink them.
