Seeing the recent threads about people wanting to get rid of stuff,
dumping stuff in 3 week boxes, etc, I propose the following:

a) the swapshop wiki page doesn't get much use (see edit history vs the
number of things posted on this list)
b) we should follow the freecycle model and create a swapshop mailing
list.

What do people think?

I have lots of stuff I wanted rid of, looked down swapshop list and it seemed fairly out of date, I found a few of the items I wanted to get rid of were being requested, I posted to the users, heard nothing back.

It doesn't seem to work, so a mailing list may be better.

I'd vote for a drop off/pickup box somewhere though specifically for the swapshop otherwise we may end up with junk accumulating in it.

I think the swapshop wiki worked better when changes were notified in
the news postings. Otherwise, only those keen enough to keep checking
saw anything.

The news postings are, I think, being revived - so perhaps additions
to the swapshop page could once again be featured ?

That could work if the news postings really do reappear... anyone know
what's going on with that?

I'm putting one out this Sunday night. Christmas and New Year happened,
sadly. Apologies.
