Hello all,

Thanks to hipster we now have an even more awesome vinyl cutter for the space, you can see some of its handy work here: https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/74206_10151365950489703_867252738_n.jpg

It can also do T-Shirt vinyl, so all we need to make our own shirts and other fabric items more awesome is a heat press!

We can get one on ebay with a extra mug heat sealer (perfect for xmass gift making) for only £165 delivered. Will only take a few of us chipping in £10-£15 each, who's with me?

Have you seen - and felt - the quality of textile print done this way?
If not, I recommend you try it out without the press first, using a regular iron (steam off!).

Regarding the mug transfer thing - a look at the technology
involved[1] seems to say we'd need an Epson or Ricoh printer &
sublimation dye inks for it. If there's a hacky way to do this, that'd
be extremely cool, but I wanted to raise a flag that we might be
acquiring a shiny new tool we can't use for the sake of something else
we haven't got.

I'll throw £20 towards this, I def want to use it!

Been looking into places to get wholesale things to print. http://www.buytshirtsonline.co.uk/ seems to do blank t-shirts for £1.20 each and hoodies for around £4

I've done some googling. Equipment to do sublimation printing would include an Epson S22 (£~40), External ink system for the S22 (£20), Sublimation ink (£40-50 per set), and sublimation paper (£10 for 100 sheets). While it certainly isn't the cheapest thing to get started I believe it is well within our ability.

Fab, so please pay your pledges into the hackspace bank account (details can be found in the members section of the main site) and use the banking reference: TSHIRT , then mark yourself as paid on the wiki.

Sol,

Having a problem accessing my account at the moment. Lost my keypad security thingy. So can I pay via card on the donate page? I will add another couple of quid to cover the paypal charges.

True, but meanwhile wouldn't it work if we just adjust the setting of the press for the circumference of a mug and then
use an oven for sublimation?

Could it be used with press n peel to make circuit boards ? Plastic film onto pcb ?

See the press here www.techniks.com

Or is the process different ?

It should work fine for this, but it would probably require a bit of
experimentation with time and temperature.

It's 3.4% + 20p, and you should have been able to opt to pay this fee yourself:

The paypal link on the dontate page is not exactly perfect for this sort of thing - I couldn't add even the text to indicate it was for the t-shirt heat sealer.

I think you're the first person to mention using Paypal for a pledge - we don't encourage use of Paypal due to their fees and awful customer service.

I've added an issue to Github:

Apologies, I added a couple of quid for fees etc I can't currently find my pin pad card thingy my bank has supplied me with so can't make bank transfers until I do - since I was holding up the pledge it seemed easier to transfer it with a couple of extra quid to get the ball rolling.

Would be easier to add a link which you can specify you pay the fees and add a reference - much easier with paypal (sadly)

You could always go into a branch of Barclays and deposit the cash
directly into the hackspace bank account. Just make sure that you get
the bank teller to include the reference number when you deposit the
cash, otherwise we won't know who it came from.
