As the last padlock broke, we've had to switch to a 5-digit code.  If you're a member, you can check the new code at:

You should also note the part saying "treat this as confidential", which includes not mentioning the code in the Hackspace channel on IRC.

Cheers,
Mark

Or even worse, shouting it across the car park.

It might be a good idea for security to change this every 2 months or so.

I hope we've managed to sort out a better solution after 2 months!

RFID card access on the *front* door? What's the progress on this?

Automating the roller shutter is not practical (and if you have a suggestion for doing this safely, it's probably already been suggested).  The shutter will continue to be opened on open days.

The current plan is to replace or shield the glass with a solid wall, and to put a secure door in that.  That requires a proposal to be passed by the landlord, which currently doesn't exist.  More discussion on the infrastructure list/channel.

Waiting on the old doorbot to be removed from the old space so it can be reused.

We won't doorbot the roller shutter.

If we doorbot the back gate, it will probably just be left open like the back door is, which is really dumb by the way, please don't do it.

Could I suggest that resetting to 00000 is far more secure than any 'scramble' might be.

Numerological nitpicking isn't very helpful if closing the gate (and/or backdoor) at all, a binary operation, isn't happening.
