We're having a party in Hoxton this Saturday to celebrate our wedding, and we need some speakers a bit stronger than our normal home cinema ones. The amp specifies minimum 4 ohms for using direct or remote speakers, and 8 ohms for both. Does anyone have any that they need to chuck out, or could loan?
Cheers
Richard

The speaker outputs on the back of the amp allow 4 speakers to be plugged in (2 "direct" and 2 "remote", with a switch setting for either direct or remote or both.

So it's 8 ohms combined (4 ohms each pair) for using both "direct" amd "remote" - sorry, that was confusing, and I had to look it up! (http://www.rotel.com/content/manuals/ra931_eng.pdf) Anyway for this size of venue I think two speakers will be enough....

Someone left some HUGE speakers in the space with no info on them. We noted them at the last Junkspace but I am not sure if we ever tracked down who owns them. I'd say they're fair game to borrow at least. They're about 3ft high and to the left of lovelace the last time I looked. Anyone care to confirm that? ~Akki

That's a 30W amp -
if the venue is bigger than your bedroom , or you are expecting more than 5 guests, then I would suggest finding a bigger one.

Thanks Akki. If you're right, I'll bring in the amp and do a test....

So, you've got your amp, you've got your speakers...do you want a Dolby
with it?
