Hi,

Anyone know offhand where's a good place to get Opinel knives in London? I need (ideally) a No. 2 and a couple of No. 7s, all with the carbon steel blades.

I can always order them online, but I'd rather walk into the shop if it's at all possible.

(For anyone who's not used an Opinel, I couldn't recommend them more highly for carving, sculpting, and general cutting, and they're ridiculously cheap for what you get.)

Cheers,
Sam

That's it.  We're not messing around anymore, we're buying a bigger dictionary.  -  Tibor Fischer, The Thought Gang.

Buck and Ryan used to carry them, as do a lot of the more trad-type
tobacconists.

The blades are indeed great, but I've always found them too much of a
fiddle to open and lock to be of much use as a general purpose pocket
knife. I've been pretty thoroughly spoiled by Benchmade though.

Collyn Hardware, covent garden has quite a selection. And give that umbrella company on New Oxford street a call (halfway between tottenhancourtrd/holborn).

Labour & Wait near Brick Lane have some, but if SCP is where I think
it is it's a lot better.

I got my last one at Buck & Ryan, but their website doesn't have them any more. I'll drop in when I'm passing, since I need to go to Falkiner's for paper soon, but I don't hold out much hope. I can't go into tobacconists, but cheers for the tip in any case!

Those are shiny, indeed! I use a knife rarely enough day to day that I don't mind about that; mostly I want these for woodcarving and camping use. The No. 2 will get re-mounted on a fixed hilt.

Excellent, thank you all - I shall take a wander around those and see what I can find.
