I've got a Go-Ped Know-Ped kick scooter lying about and was thinking of making it an electric scooter. The costs of buying one being quite substantial. So, I've come across http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=42342 , where someone has done a conversion already.

I have no experience in any of this stuff .. no metal work, no real electric knowledge .. I mean, I may as well say no relevant experience whatsoever! Just wondering where to buy the materials mentioned, what tools I can use in the hackspace to help out. Whether anyone is happy to help me with the conversion?

My main thing is to try and build an all weather, therefore waterproof, vehicle.

Any advice/help appreciated. I don't know where to source the wheels, engine, batteries etc in the UK. Presume there are some model enthusiast site who would have some of this stuff?

Thanks

Nick

Hi Nick,
I don't think it to be hard, if u could wire up an arduino to a potentiometer to give pwm , u could use commercial off the shelf esc , lipo's and brushless motors , none of this should be costly ...

An arduino was one thought I had, but was slightly concerned about the vibrations dislodging chips or generally destroying it. Was thinking that model airplane people do all this with more dumb and resistant parts.

I haven't got the foggiest where to buy those small wheels with sprockets etc. There must be a decent supplier of this stuff in the UK.

The front fork looks an interesting problem. Adding a right hand fork to hold the brake.
