Dear List, I would like to sound out the mailing list and check that
it would be ok to run an open-source software hackathon (called Spring
of Code) in the space on Sunday the 12th January from late afternoon
till late. I have not got any solid plans yet but I just wanted to
check there are no clashes etc.

Sam, I am all up for a go in your time machine, it makes the hackathon
seem somewhat passe

No, but it does say 'till late' :)

And 12th February is still definitely winter anyway.

So the correct date is in fact 12th February and the event is question
is intended to create buzz and launch project with enough time to
allow some open source groups to approach the project prior to the
first "Spring of Code" hackathon event which will commence at 00:00 on
the 29th Feb / 1st March (which is when Spring actually starts). In
any case, we are looking at a number of venues (goldsmiths university
and C4CC to name a few) so there is nothing pressing about the use of
the space. It is up for London Hackspace as a community to decide if
they support this kind of initiative and it is worth enough to the
members to warrant the use of the space during Sunday (probably
actually starting much earlier on the Sunday that as I had first
suggested in order to allow the poor folk that have normal lives to
have a fair shot at getting up on time for their usual Monday
morning) . Finally, I think it would be very fitting to host this
ambitious event at the space but maybe Goldsmiths Uni / South East
London might be a nice change and help us mix it up a bit.
