HAI GUYZ!

I've strung up 63 rgb leds in the social area, theyre running off of an ATX PSU and beaglebone sitting on top of the network cabinet.
I'm messing with them at the moment so please dont destroy, reset, "improve" or touch them

ta!

The name -> colour algo is here:

https://github.com/londonhackspace/net-o-meter/blob/master/client/nickcolors.py

afaict there isn't a standard for it, so i gave up 1/2 way through
cloneing pidgins algo (also it was too much like hard work).

P.S. This reminds me - we are very, very, very overdue on resurrecting the
DMX lights, can you add dmx (RS485) to your beagle bone?

I'm not entirely sure Tom is a fan of DMX judging by the abuse I got on
IRC for asking this same question..

Well it turns out there are so many latent-breaks in this string of lights that I'm taking them down. I cant be bothered to reflow all 64 links between them!

Does that mean they are abandoned and looking for a new caretaker? Would
be a shame to lose them...

exactly that :) If you would like the hassle of swearing at them, then your code, them then again just to figure out that some knob at EMF didnt solder properly then go for it!

hey, I was one of those knobs.

it's not like we were getting paid. we tested each unit and classified them into either the "good","partly fucked" or "totally fucked" bins.

as was i!
in any case, theyve pissed me off for the last time. If someone else wants to play with them then go for it :)

The problem is, we then fixed the 'partly fucked' ones to get them working... and accidentally used them for the HMS Shiteanic.

So the ones you have on that string were soldered by knobs in a field using broken parts :D
