Heya,

so I had 0.75 days left on my reservation when I logged in tonight and
someone has taken about 152euro off me (a very long weekend of
leet . . priceless. . .) , so it looks like I've got a ticket. now to
get there. . . (I'd rather not fly or take a coach. The chunnel
experience has only ever varied from pricey and extremely
disappointing to *epic*fail*, for me)

Glen & OctD'Cassi : Assuming you still have space in your vans: When
do you plan on leaving and returning? How much do you think the
journey will cost (split of fuel&ferry? one way?). Would you
consider taking a passenger one way (outward in my case?) . . .

So if I'm not going to be driven by the above or someone else
(offers?) my (loose, but getting
tighter. . .) plan, so far, is:

Ideally arrive *by* Monday 8th if not earlier (in *theory* I'm
available from the middle of next week, but day-to-day costs would
have to be *-super-*-crazy-*-value-* until I got to the camp).

Travel by Dutch Flyer (Day (from 40ukp) or Night Ferry (from between
54ukp(5 berth) 78ukp(1 berth (actually single occupancy 2 berth))
upwards . . .) to The German Border (Enschede or Venlo or?)

(possible nap/camp time near a border town)

(Single ticket Enschede to Gronau is 3.80euro)

From Germany take either a "Schönes Wochenende" ticket (upto 5 people,
all in, 39 euro (can you travel on your own on this ticket??)
approximately 10 hour journey with 4 or 5 changes to Berlin, probably
can take it closer to Finowfurt.

or 2 to 5 "Lander" tickets (upto 5 people 21-31 euro, all in, for each
"region" we pass through.

After the the camp tidy up (Wednesday'ish?) I might then travel onto
Poland or might be persuaded
to do the return journey in the same group.

So I'm looking for (groups of?) upto 5 people who can make a
compromise on dates/ costs as above
and take my cash or give me cash for booking on my credit card and
meetup with passports within the next 3 or so days at the hackspace or
http://dek.spc.org?

responses ideally off list/ on the wiki and I'll do updates when I
can. . . .

werd,

http://tenyen.net/

damn that sux :( hope u getting there ok.  Does anyone have a way of taking the banner to CCC? thought it would be good to have it around our camp, so we at least have some presence.  If nobody else does then I'll just carry it, but will probably cost extra on a plane.

I could hire a van if people were willing to contribute towards the
cost.

Hi Martin and anyone else traveling to CCC camp by plane,

A quick (I hope) question about getting from the airport to the camp.
On the page
http://events.ccc.de/camp/2011/wiki/index.php/Getting_there they seem
to mention a ticket called a Einzelfahrausweis, Regionaltarif über 25
bis 35 km which costs 5.20 euros per person each way and which you
can buy in Berlin stations. Am I reading that correctly or do you have
to get a 119 euro ticket from "Any DB-Station" > Eberswalde > "Any
DB-Station"?

If you can get the Einzelfahrausweis, Regionaltarif über 25 bis 35 km
instead can you / should you get those in advance or do you just get
them from ticket machines in Berlin?

Cheers,

Nathan

I'm not entirely sure, but last time I just got a ticket from the airport to eberswalde, then went from the airport to the main berlin station, then on to eberswalde.  Seemed to be reasonably easy, even with my limited german understanding.

I went to CCC in 2007. We flew into Berlin Tegel (which has long since closed). If I remeber correctly, we
purchased an U-Bahn ticket to get to Berlin Central, then a ticket at Berlin Central for the train to
Eberswalde. It was a few Euros, I don't think it was the sensible way to do it though. On the return, we
purcashed a group ticket for three people that allowed us to travel from Eberswalde to Berlin Central, then
to Berlin Zoo on the U-Bahn. The ticket man announced "that's 10 Euro 50". I announced "here's my 10Eur
50" and he looked at me a little surprised and replied "No, that's 10 50 all together!" If think the three
things you need to know are:

1) English is widely spoken at the stations, you shouldn't have any difficulty in communicating your
requirements and getting the best deal
2) Rail travel is cheap to the point that it's silly
3) You get very good group discounts

Mike.

The last time I checked Tegel was still there. It's possibly he most
central airport of any mayor .eu city, it's a short metro or bus
journey.
Berlin Tempalhof airport is now closed, maybe you were thinking of
that one.

I bloody hope it's still there! Lufthansa are flying me into it
tomorrow morning so I will let you know!

I'm not looking forward to the journey from Eberswalde Hbf to camp.
Looks like a pita. Might try and see if I can get a taxi with
someone...

Taxi was €15 for a 7-seater.  If you turn up at the same time as a few others, it's definitely worth it.
