As there is already an event on that night it would not be acceptable to use much more space as this would mean little room for anyone not connected to either event. How much room would you like to take up? How many people do you expect to come?

I have spoken to Fabian off the list and obtained there would be around 7 people, this would render most of 24 unusable to normal members so have said they would need to find an alternative venue for the event.

I would love to have more than one thing on at a time, but we simply don't have the space.

Thanks for your active defence of the communal space.  We are aware of the circumstances and that the space is limited and has been reserved for members. So the people who are attending are going to become members of the Hackspace, but the event is now cancelled.   I hope you don't mind that members will meet in hackspace to chat.

No.

This is not on at all.

For one, that is the Reprap Users Group meeting night in the Quiet Room. They are a regular meet up and they HAVE followed the rules fully to meet up with like-minded people who may or may not be members of the Hackspace.

You are NOT going to be welcomed if you decide to show up with a huge group of people taking up the rest of the space.

I don't think Charles' point was so much to do with memberships but more to do with how booking the space actually works and consideration for other users of the space.

I am almost certainly misreading your email but it appears that your proposed solution is to become a member and encourage the members of your group to do likewise and thus 'meet and talk' which sounds like an 'event' to me….

My apologies if I am wrong here but as Charles was saying if you intend to have a group meet in the space be ye members or nay then please do book it.

I don't think you have any responsibility to take if you said he
should ask the list. He didn't ask, he announced.

Yeah, I should have made that point stronger. I cant remember exactly
and also, I didn't correct him when he assumed it would be ok
regardless of what the list said (which he did) - which is my fault.
That said yes, its not the way to do things. I'll be a bit stronger
next time.
