We want to let you know we will soon be carrying out network
enhancement work in your area. It shouldn't affect your service.
Just so you're aware, here's the schedule:
Start of enhancement work:Friday 13/01/12 at 08:00 PM
End of enhancement work:Saturday 14/01/12 at 08:00 AM
Expected duration:12:00:00 (Hrs:Min:Sec)
If you do experience problems during that period - and we really hope
you don't - please don' t worry! We'll be working hard and fast to fix
it. Any updates on disruptions or outages will be available from

Probably a lot less than that, I suspect they are upgrading the DSLAMS so each subscriber would probably only be affected
for a very short period of time.

That is almost certainly a lie, they are doing the work at night and hoping nobody notices a very brief outage, otherwise they
would do it during the day!
Our head office ADSL was out for a week when BT did an upgrade like this, they didn't admit to changing anything to begin with
but ended up telling us we needed to upgrade our router as it wasn't compatible with the changes that they hadn't made.
Even by BT standards it was a monumental cockup, as soon as unbundling arrives we are switching.

Last time I got one of those, my router disconnected, flapped
forlornly for a couple of minutes and came back fine.

I didn't see that. When I read "Expected duration" during a downtime
warning I assume that means duration of the downtime. Perhaps it's
just me.
