So, the crowd has spoken and the day that we've chosen is Tuesday the 10th
of February. I'm aware this clashes with the Hardware Hacking pubmeet, but
that's when the most people are available according to meetomatic.

Venue is still TBA - we're going to try and find somewhere relatively quiet
so we can get at least some discussing done :)

Cheers,

Russ

We're still not sure - I think we should get somewhere fairly central.
Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese on Fleet Street springs to mind, especially
since they have a lot of spare rooms:

Anyone else have any suggestions of somewhere that has a quiet room?

In the past, with a phone call they've let me have -- at no cost -- a
side room or two.

Another one is the Adam & Eve on Petty France (or thereabouts).

Hey Russ!

Hope you are well. This group sounds like fun!

I have a couple of suggestions for venues ( maybe more ;) )

There is the RampART [ http://therampart.wordpress.com/ ] which used
to have London hack days quite regularly. Its a big space too.

Or there is the George (also in the East end) which is an amazing
venue and I am friends with the owners' son who could also be
interested in this.

I know of other social centres who could host it ... some are a bit
sketchy tho'.

Check em out!

So, we finally have a venue!

When: Tuesday 10th Feb, 7:30pm
Where: Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, off Fleet Street (The entrance is a
little way up the incongruously-named Wine Office Court, on the right:
http://tinyurl.com/bkkcmv)

I've managed to secure the "Courtyard Bar" at no cost, but the
previous occupiers might not be out until 7:45pm. Once it's free
they'll put my name on the blackboard outside.

See you there!

Hi Russ (et. al.),

I'm not going to be able to make it (aside from anything else, I'm an Ex-Londoner now living in Manchester), but one thing I have noticed from the Northern events is that putting the event on http://Upcoming.Yahoo.com (formerly http://upcoming.org) might add some more interested parties.

There's a few people who are on the Northern group Geekup.org that spend a reasonable amount of time in or near London. Would someone be able to produce something resembling a press release, or at least something I can stick on the mailing list to attract people to the meeting?

Regards,

I meant to add, what I was hoping to see was something like http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/1518199/

Thanks!

I don't mind taking some minutes for this meetup and posting them on
here afterwards.

Would it help to have a simple list on here beforehand with some of
the discussion points?

That would be excellent, although we'd like it to be an informal discussion
rather than a formal meeting, so I'm not sure how easy it'll be to take
minutes!

If you'd like to start a list of points we should cover, head over to the
wiki and do it there, then post a link to the page on the list.

Hope to see you all on Tuesday!

Record it on phone/other device, and upload the file somewhere?

If it's an informal discussion I'll just jot down some notes and
publish them.
