Dear Hackspace,
I'm a Hackspace member and I run the Air Guitar UK Championships
(http://www.facebook.com/airguitaruk). This year we've teamed up with
the Design Museum (http://designmuseum.org/) to hold a competition to
design the 2012 trophy, right now I'm working on the creative
specification, and when we have more details in place (everything is
very open-ended at the moment), we'll get the competition launched.
The winner of the competition (to be judged hopefully by a relatively
high-profile designer, musician, and someone connected with either Air
Guitar UK or Teenage Cancer Trust) will be announced at an Air Guitar
UK 'takeover' of the Design Museum's Riverside Hall (http://
designmuseum.org/hiring/riverside-hall) one day in mid July. That
evening the space will become the venue for the Air Guitar UK
Championship Finals, where the best air guitarist in the country will
be crowned and presented with the trophy, and then sent to represent
the UK at the World Air Guitar Championships (http://
www.airguitarworldchampionships.com/) in Finland.
We're running on a shoestring budget, and I need someone, or a team of
people, to build the trophy to the winning design. This is where I
hope the Hackspace and our members can come in to their own! Having a
piece made in the Hackspace by it's members displayed and presented at
the Design Museum as part of a national event could be a great
showcase for the space and our community. It fits quite well with the
'Hackspace Challenges' (http://wiki.london.hackspace.org.uk/view/
Project:Hackspace_Challenges) project proposed on the wiki.
What do people think, is anyone interested?
All the best,
Danny
