We hope you'll forgive the late notice of this email...one of our Orpheum team members wound up with emergency surgery the last couple of days (he's doing extremely well and will be back to his old self in no time). Here's to hoping that great news is still great even when late! And what's the great news?

Marquette Bluegrass phenomenon Chasin' Steel will be gracing our stage with their incredible music again! If you missed them last time, you really missed out, so come on down Saturday night! The show is only $10 ($8 for students and youngsters) which is incredible for this quality of music! Doors open a 7:30, and music begins around 8pm...and it's gonna be amazing!!

And just to add a teaser (or three or four) to this shameless self promotion, we also have upcoming shows that might really get you salivating: Friday, May 31 brings Joshua Davis (yes, THAT Joshua Davis, front man and lead songwriter for U.P. favorites Steppin' In It!!) in a solo appearance, joined by our very own Mike Labeau of Raven Congress, also playing solo...though I imagine a duet isn't out of the question, either.

As if that weren't tempting enough, on Friday June 7 Traditional Dance and Music phenomenon Nic Gariess will be cloggin', tappin', spinnin' and jumpin' on our stage (and playing the Bouzouki too!) with our own Copper Country greats Marshall Weathersby on Mandolin and Guitar and Eli Halpin on Fiddle and Cello. Gonna be a heckuva show!

And wait, there's more! June 14 brings Colorado folk duo Native, performing a collection of songs about, and dedicated to, our very own Keweenaw Peninsula. They will be joined by our own Copper Country group Gratiot Lake Road who not only write songs about the Keweenaw, but named themselves after a place in it...

Finally, I'd like to mention Eileen Sundquist's special Wednesday event (June 19) at the Orpheum: The Finnfest Kickoff Strawberry Social! Local volunteer grown strawberries will be the icing on the shortcake at this meet n' greet mixer with lots of live folk music on the Orpheum stage!

Phew! All done....well...I might have one more trick up my sleeve--and you deserve a treat for reading this far--how about Blues master Charlie Parr on June 28?!!!? More details later on all these, but you won't want to miss a single one! Thanks for bearing with us to the end of the email, and we will see you at the shows!
