Description:
This site intends to be a forum and a space to pool discussions and ideas of local historical societies and history buffs from the TC region.
This is a strength in numbers concept. While not many may participate in a small historical society's web site forum, a broader forum may hold some appeal.

Old Nicollet Theatre on Grant & Nicollet??
|
| |
Does anyone know anything about this theater? It would appear that
some of my family members lived above it perhaps?? in 1905.
Specifically 1347 Nicollet Ave. I have searched the internet from
here in AZ and I can't find anything except for it showing up on a
list as demolished.
Anything would be great, photos, stories... I am very curious!!... more »

Richfield Theater

Does anyone remember the Richfield Movie Theater (built in 1947) that was located at the corner of Nicollet Avenue and 65th Street? Specifically, can anyone remember what year it was torn down, or know which structure replaced it? (I suspect the current Wells Fargo Bank is on the site, but would like that confirmed.)... more »

It appeared to start in 1946 and continued sometime untill the mid 50's.... more »

There was no indication that it... more »

Hwy 100 Picnic grounds oddity
|
| |
Has anyone else noticed the little picnic areas along Hwy 100? From what I hear back in the ever-so-naive days at the start of freeway construction the Highway planners actually thought the cloverleafs could be used as picnic areas. What is happening to the Limestone firepit and table/s along the freeway with the recontruction and what... more »

Museum Podcasts
|
| |
Recently the Richfield Historical Society's podcasts were mentioned in the December issue of MPLS/St.Paul Magazine. It got me thinking about what kind of podcasts are being done locally or being planned for local history museums? I have been working on podcasts describing a late 1800s farm house going room by room. While I have interest in the... more »
