Just a short, quick update, and "save the dates":
A number of concerned people are meeting tonight (Monday) at 7pm at Circle Pines Center to discuss fracking and upcoming related events.
The events are intended to bring people up to speed before an auction of mineral rights in most of the state owned land in Barry County and 20+ other counties in Michigan. The leases could result in frack wells, which are blamed for water pollution, health impacts, and other concerns as documented in the recent award winning and Academy Award nominated film Gasland.
Save the Dates:
May 1, Tuesday, 6:30 pm, Pierce Cedar Creek Institute near Hastings, a presentation regarding leasing and oil and gas drilling in Barry County
May 2, Wednesday, 7 pm, Thornapple Township Hall in Middleville, presentation on what is fracking and what are the possible impacts with guest speaker(s)
May 5, Saturday, 7 pm, Thornapple Township Hall in Middleville, GASLAND, free film and discussion
May 8, Tuesday, public lease auction day, people will be gathering at the auction site in Lansing
Again, this is just a quick FYI and "save the date", but do let me know if you have any questions; and feel free to spread the word.
Best,
Aaron
