Living Paradigm is a model for families building their own houses, with free, salvage and recycled building materials, under the paid guidance of a seasoned builder—a mentor. The mentor is responsible for developing plans, preparing documents for obtaining permits, materials acquisition, and general tutoring and encouragement, to free the family to do the physical work of building the house. And the size of the house is the minimum square footage allowed by law, but with possibilities for expansion planned into the concept. Living Paradigm is in collaboration with the Phoenix Commotion, a low-income housing initiative by homebuilder Dan Phillips. Our first home has been built in Huntsville, TX.
