Hello Livelyzens,

We have come together to make an effort to save Lively. We know that
the odds are against us but by working together we stand a chance of
making Google take notice.

Here is the overall plan for this campaign:

By 30th November 2008 - identify Google contacts we can talk to.
By 6th December 2008 - complete Concept Rooms, Video & Slide show
contests, Email campaign.
By 10th December 2008 - complete petitions and appeal letter to
Google.
By 12th December 2008 - Get in touch with Google reps to present our
case.

We have only 3 weeks to take action. So please please come together
and focus on this agenda - I know many are tempted to check other
virtual worlds but I request you to please do that after December
15th. Right now, much needs to be done.

sign up for tasks that are calling for volunteers.

Dear Livelyzens,

We have had a busy weekend of setting things up for the campaign. We
now have a plan and need to start executing quickly. We have 2 weeks
to carry out the following activities before we present our case to
Google. So we need to keep our focus and work together.


Here are the 5 things that all of us should be doing at this point:


1) Sign up for one of the animal teams and focus on the team
responsibility.

2) Sign the online petition at:

The Online Petition has 65 signatures so far. We have 134 people
registered on this group. We need every single person on this group
to sign the online petition as well as forward the email I sent
earlier to your friends. Let's try to hit 500 signatures before the
end of this week. Please spread the word! You can use Pony's
touching poster in your emails/blogs to convey the message:

3) Digg this article at digg.com:

4) Participate in the machinima video or slideshow contest and post

Facebook status etc. http://livelyzens.com.

I have an announcement regarding our website http://livelyzens.com

We have a professional webmaster now to manage it !!! Adrian
(webrunner1981) will be managing our website. He is expert at getting
websites to show up on google search and has already plugged in the
required keywords to make our website show up on google searches. :)

He has also updated our blog page to show the various blogs directly
on our website.

*PORTUGESE BLOG OWNER* - can you please make the youtube video on your
blog manual play? Right now it starts playing automatically and this
causes our website to load slowly. Thank you!!

Great!

Apart from internal optimization (keywords and such, please note that
the keyword meta tag is of no value in SEO anymore, keywords should
appear in the copy), external optimization is also important. Therefor
it is of the utmost significance that we use the link to http://netizens.com
as often on websites as possible. BEARS, this is especially
applicable to our work! Don't forget. We need LINK JUICE!

If you can use the link with a high profile anchor text, that is even
better, like (as an example):

<a href="http://livelizens.com">Keep Lively Alive</a>.

I'm awaiting instructions by Adrian to correct this anchor text as he
sees fit.

Can I reinforce what Kos has already asked of everyone yesterday, we are up to 6 letters to Mel Guymon now.

This direct appeal is an effective way for us to show how this product works.

If this is the only thing you can offer towards the campaign then I ask you all to put pen to paper, well finger to keyboard.  Dont concern yourself with content just express what you feel about lively and maybe what it has offered you.

I know we have many members speaking a humber of languages, so please write your letter in your native tongue if this is a worry or issue.

Everyone is working hard in some area to flag up our dislike in Googles decision so lets hit this area too.

Encourage your fellow livelyzens to write also!

KEEP LIVELY ALIVE CAMPAIGN - STATUS UPDATE (11/28) :

Dear Livelyzens,

We have had a busy week since the announcement of the shutdown on
11/19.

Exactly 9 days later, here is where we are:

1) Website www.livelyzens.com and blogs in various languages set up
and has a lot of content. Adrian is webmaster and doing a great job
at it.
2) Bears have done a great job spreading the news about our campaign
(Oriste, Cherry, Cristal, Juan and others)
3) Email campaign - Nova's idea - we did 2 emails - one with the sign
petition request and second was the funny email to google gods - based
on an idea from Malon to write to the president
4) CATS team is busy shooting videos. Solum is also doing an
excellent job taking Avatar pictures for the "Give Lively a Chance"
campaign.
5) We started posting personal stories on the Lively-Help group to get
Mel Guymon's attention. While we have some incredible stories up
there already - WE NEED ALL OF US to write there - this is VERY
IMPORTANT.
6) We tried to wake up the LIONS amongst us - and campaign in other
chat rooms. Most of us who tried this came away disgusted by the
nature of interactions in these chat rooms - most of them filled with
spammers or other inappropriate discussions.
7) We have started 3 competitions - machinima video contest, slideshow
contest, Stain Glass competition. One more will be announced shortly
- the Lively LOLcatz and LOLBearz contest.
8) Online petition signing is in progress - we have 251 signatures so
far. We really need to reach atleast 500 before we send our joint
appeal letter to Google on Monday - please pass on the word to as many
people/friends as you can.
9) Joint appeal letter is being drafted to be sent to Google on
Monday.
10) Noahs Ark team is having a ball exploring other virtual worlds :)
A comparitive report from this team will be a great supporting doc to
our appeal letter.
11) Concept rooms by RandomHuman, freecoconuts and Binmei. Google
translate integration has been demonstrated through "Babel Miss".
Random and freecoco have one more concept room in the making. Binmei
has his igadget rooms to demonstrate. We'll add links of these rooms
in our appeal doc.


To summarize
What is going well:
- our website, bears campaign, Cats video shooting is progressing very
well.

Areas that need more action:
1) Personal stories on Lively-Help group - we need all of you to go
and write there - even if you dont feel like writing a personal story,
just add a comment supporting the appeal and requesting Googel to
reconsider. Here is the link:

2) Contests participation - Have fun while you do it - lets all
participate in full force in these contests and make them really
memorable and a record of the great things on Lively.

3) 90 second video promo will be very useful at this juncture if the

What we have concluded not to pursue:
Campaigning in chat rooms and such.

NEXT STEPS:

- Personal stories on lively-help group - EVERYONE
- Online petitions target 500 signatures - EVERYONE

(All actionees must complete your respective area/document by 30th
November sunday so that we are all set)

2. Bears continue campaigning in blogs. Also pass on our press
releases regarding concept rooms to editors of popular news sites /
bloggers.

3. EVERYONE - participate in the competitions and make them fun. Also
continue online petition signature campaign.

4. Lions and Tiger teams will be retired this weekend. The animal
teams that will remain are:
bears - spreading the word
cats - videos
monkeys - 90 sec promo
seals - petition / appeal letter
wolves - campaigning via drawings
piglets - concept rooms
Noahs Ark - researching other virtual worlds

Once we have the appeal letter out on December 1st to Google, let us
all get back to enjoying Lively and make lots more wonderful memories
while hoping for the best !!

The Appeal letter has been sent to several contacts at Google.

I would like to thank all those who helped with this effort - everyone
of you have made a difference by writing your personal story. Special
thanks to Solum for getting the avatar pics and megaposter together,
Adrian for his tireless efforts on the website, Rana for getting
together the petitions/appeals in one place, Brit and Cherry for
drafting the appeal letter, Pony and Sakura for the lovely posters,
Nova for the email campaign idea and making the landing livelyzens
room, Malon for the president letter idea, Lurks/Shia/Gooble for the
contest rooms, Oriste, Cherry,Cristal and all the bears for the
aggressive campatign on blogs, RandomHuman and freecoconuts forthe
wonderful BabelMiss concept rooms, Rossen for the animal icons and
picket sign, Squeak, Vic and many others who were our think tanks to
analyze the situation and suggest actions, Finola for the aggressive
letter writing campaign :), Luis-Pony-Juan and our other multilingual
bloggers, all the Cats who are still working on the video, Pil who is
organizing a team for Lively Music Video, and...( sorry if my memory
fails to remember some names) and every single one of you that has
taken so much initiative and for all the motivational emails (special
mention : Belavar!!).

This is a true story of citizen unity and action. Lets hope that
Google responds, and responds favorably.

While we wait, lets not spare any time to get back and have fun on
Lively!!
