If you listen-dev folks are no longer interested in supporting the
Listen app (witness the multi-day update outage without ANY response
from Google at all), could you at least open source it onto google-
code so the community can take over?

Thanks,

now THAT actually sounds like a good solution.

It should be opened due to lack of work being done on it. Let some of the people who use it fix the problems!

I second this. The application is of little use as is, but it has the
potential of being a great app if it can only be made to work as
intended. If there are no plans to fix it in the near future,
releasing the source code is a great option. The community would most
likely have it working in short order.

+1 As others have said - it has a lot of potential but that is now
just going to waste.

Great idea. I hope someone is listening!

I think that there's more to it than just the application code. This
refresh problem looks like it's a Google server issue. Our
subscriptions appear to be held at Google, not on the Smartphone. I
noticed this recently when my HTC Desire had to go back for repair, I
used a T-Mobile Mini Pulse for a few weeks. The first app that I
installed on the Pulse was "Listen", and all my listen subscriptions
magically appeared on the new phone as soon as I linked it to my Gmail
account.

Unless I am very much mistaken, we would need access to the Google
servers as well as the code!

This is a really good idea.

I agree. Allow the community to revive this project!

Yeah, it seems to be it's a problem with Google Reader. I have two
accounts, one I use for news and the other for podcasts. If I click
on the Firefox RSS icon in the address bar when I'm at my news
account, it works fine. When I do it for my podcast account, it gives
me the message "Permission Denied". Although, the curious thing is
that BeyondPod is still able to sync with my Google Reader podcast
account, so I could be completely wrong.

I agree. I would love to see listen built-in to Google Reader for Android. Currently, Google Reader for Android only lets you listen to streaming audio, no downloading & listening offline. Not to mention, there are several Podcasts that Google Reader won't take  like Mike Huckabee's podcast. This Listen is a Google Labs & it seems they put it on hold. At least they have done away with all the Spam this group has been over-run with for months. That's the price for a free Product.
