Help With Intranet Configuration
Hello all, I have a server running on a local intranet that I would like to receive email on for a web application. The server's hostname is in the form of hostname.example.com and I'm simply trying to receive email for local accounts on the server. I've tried configuring main.cf with $mydestination set to hostname.example.com and I even set... more »

Messages sent with Postfix have attachment?
All of the messages I send via SMTP through Postfix come into my inbox (Yahoo) showing an attachment, but there is nothing there. The header shows: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="---- =_Part_124_68713.1262601356866 " Does anyone have an idea as to what might be causing this phantom... more »

I should add...
Being new to Postfix, I'm looking for suggestions. I keep reading about how things "used" to be on smtps using port 465, but now they aren't. It's all a bit confusing. I've read 200 sites tonight alone. Assuming I have a server that needs to send mail (such as PHP, Ruby, ColdFusion, etc), what is the best configuration?... more »

Email svc providers
I am currently consulting for a small retailer. They have been using an online email service provider for the past few years to blast personalized emails to their customers (opt-in, and 100-200 thousand emails at a time). They have asked me to see if we can install an email server in house to accomplish the same thing and eliminate the... more »

Preventing Postfix from _sending_ backscatter
Hi We run a Postfix server which handles email for a number of our customers domains. Most have mailboxes on the server, which all works fine, but the problem is for domains where the mail is forwarded to another server. This can cause our server to generate backscatter, which I would like to stop. The problem happens when a piece of spam is sent to... more »
