I currently run postfix version 2.1.5 and use amavisd + spamassasin +
clamav for the spam and av side.
I'm looking at switching over to mailscanner as it perhaps has a smaller
footprint on the machine that amavisd so i'm wondering what other people
use/think
thanks
Be careful.
Mailscanner uses undocumented interfaces to Postfix - interfaces that
can change between one release and the next if it suits Wietse.
Early versions of Mailscanner caused truncation and loss of messages.
Things seem to be better now but you'll need to carefully match Postfix
and Mailscanner versions or message problems may well emerge.
The majority of those on this list will not touch Mailscanner because of
the potential problems.
There has been much discussion over the years - check the archives.

Due to excessive spam as a result of archiving of this list I only
accept mail through the list server.
This is not recommended, and I doubt you'd gain any significant perf
benefits.
The "footprint" is mostly from spamassassin. So first check that your
spamassassin isn't configured with too many large rulesets.
to see how i've set it up look on my website
