Hello all,

I have a server running on a local intranet that I would like to
receive email on for a web application. The server's hostname is in
the form of hostname.example.com and I'm simply trying to receive
email for local accounts on the server. I've tried configuring main.cf
with $mydestination set to hostname.example.com and I even set
$local_recipients_map to proxy:unix:passwd.byname but I'm still having
problems. When I send an email to a local user on the server via
us...@hostname.example.com I get an email back saying
hostname.example.com rejected the email because the recipient's email
is invalid. I searched for that particular error on Google and didn't
see any matches. It does not return an error of 'user not in
recipients table' or something similar like some of the example
Postfix error messages I've seen in documentation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
