Bit of an issue... I'm unable to delete any notes permanently.
Although they all disappear from both the main screen and the deleted
folder, next time I start FF they are all back where they were before.
Oddly, the tutorial notes that came with the installation don't appear
back on the main screen, although they too persist in the deleted
items folder. Anything I'm doing wrong?

That is totally correct and I agree to the same. I don't think you are
doing anything wrong. Ever since I have installed the
new(experimental) version of the add-on, I haven't been able to delete
the notes permanently. You do not even have to restart Firefox. If you
have All-in-one sidebar installed, just close the sidebar after you
have deleted the notes, open it again and visit the Dustbin and voila,
you get all your deleted notes back, even though you have deleted them
permanently.

I haven't looked at the tutorial notes issue that you mentioned, so
really can't say anything right away on that one. The older (stable)
version of the add-on, seemed to be working fine when deleting the
notes permanently are concerned. But the new version seems to be
bugged in that it cannot delete the notes permanently.

Lastly a question. How does the sync actually work? It seems to be
that even the deleted notes are stored online. How do I delete the
notes both stored and deleted, from the online sync (backup)?

I do appreciate the team of List-it for all their hard work and I
believe taking care of the present bugs would really help boost the
add-ons popularity. Thank you.

So with a bit more playing around it looks like the problem described
above occurs when you create a note then end your FF session. When you
re-open open FF, delete the note then close and restart FF one more
time, the note has returned to the main list.it page. This doesn't
seem to happen if you create and delete the note within the same
session.

I'd also like to know where/how the notes are kept locally, if only so
that I delete them all.

Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback and apologies on the delay
getting back to you.

mhr: You're exactly right. If you close FF _immediately_ after
deleting a note, in some cases Firefox will shut down before List-It
can get a chance to write the bits back to the database. Firefox does
not let extensions deliberately block shut down, and so right now I
don't see any way around this but will look into it in greater depth.
Right now, if you wait 3-5 seconds after deleting a note before
shutting down then it will successfully write the bits back to the
database.

I Buy Stuff: If you are unable to delete notes at all, then List-It
must be crashing. It is likely a conflict with an existing extension
that you already have, possibly All In One sidebar. We have not tested
it with All-In-One but I will personally look into checking it out and
get back to you.

With respect to sync, if you go into the dustbin and hit *destroy*
then the contents of the notes will be zeroed out (cleared) on both
the desktop and server.

Note that for data integrity (against server failure) we maintain off-
site optical backups of past note databases, so it may take much
longer for all traces of your notes to be completely erased from the
server. If you are concerned about data security for something
extremely sensitive, please do not use our sync service. We're
currently considering adding full note encryption to the client --
this is in the works!

Thanks,

I'm afraid that even waiting for plenty of time before shutting FF
down, the notes all remain on my main list and deleting them from the
trash folder has no effect.

I use the All-in-one sidebar and have no trouble with deleting notes or
crashing.
