Fruit Flies love Kombucha even more than rotting fruit. We figured
out long ago how to get rid of these buggers, especially since we have
anywhere from 5-15 gallons brewing at a time in our home kitchen.
For onesies, keep your kitchen clean! Wipe the counters, clean the
sink, like 5 times a day.
Of course, don't leave fruit out. Leave it in the fridge during fruit
fly season (early and late summer).
Then you can make super-easy fruit fly traps. Just put some apple-
cider vinegar in a small jar/cup, and a drop or two of dish soap. The
vinegar attracts the flies and the soap breaks up the surface so the
can't land on it. Fruit flies are most active at night, so when you
get up in the morning your entire fruit fly collection will be
contained in the trap.
In times of desperation, I also get out the vacuum hose a suck them
up. This isn't a permanent fix, but does give an immediate sense of
satisfaction.
Good luck and feel free to post any other easy fruit fly prevention
tips. I'd rather they not be born at all that have to kill them...

The FF had babies on the top layer of my 4 layer scoby, I think I caught it a nick of time there wasn't many.
I peeled that top layer off, Is tea Ok?? Or must I through it all away??
I will make a trap for the FF like you suggested.

Fruit flies can carry bacteria that can funk your booch.  I don't trust 'em - if flies hung out on my scoby it'd be in the compost pile real quick!!
