User part of group but no group permissions?
I'm having difficulties understanding how permissions work when I thought I had a hang of it. I will use this as a test case (No I don't want to modify as root), just want these permissions to work: sudo chmod 33:33 install.php sudo chmod g+w install.php And voila -rw-rw-r-- 1 33 33 19664 May 10 07:45 install.php... more »

Whilst attempting to resize the system partition (a dicey prospect, I know) on the Linux VM, I failed to put an EXT4 file system on the partition, so now it doesn't boot! All the data should still be there, so if I can... more »

Digest for linuxusersgroup@googlegroups.c om - 1 Message in 1 Topic
pdfchain is a gui for pdftk pdfshuffler does some of what you ask pdfedit has pretty full editing capabilities, though less of the shuffling/rotating variety. They're all GUIs, but I can't speak to whether they'll have all of what you ask. Probably do at least between them. They're all in the repos for Debian, so they should be for Ubuntu.... more »

Wifi at my mom's house...
I have a Dell D-600 laptop running Xubuntu and Wicd with internal wifi using ipw2100 chipset. My mom and I have the exact same router as I have - Linksys WRT54G2. The only difference is that I flashed the firmware and put dd-wrt on mine. We are both using WPA2 Personal for encryption. My laptop automatically connects to my wifi at home, but never connects with... more »

Hello, Background, we're maintaining a core Arch (ARM) Linux kernel through a Git repository to submodule approach, the submodule being the core kernel code. I want to diff the code we've been maintaining as a patch on the core kernel. I am familiar with the basic approach, diff to get the patch... more »

Installing Gentoo in VirtualBox...
Hi, My desktop machine has an Intel Pentium 4 processor and I'm installing Gentoo in VirtualBox on it. Do I declare the processor to be Intel Pentium 4 as well?
