Linuxstamp II design files

Hi,

Can someone please point me to the design files for the Linuxstamp II
board? The Linuxstamp II wiki says they are available but has no link
to them, and the FTP site only seems to contain the original
Linuxstamp files.

Also, a trivial question: what does the 'stamp' mean in Linuxstamp?
Is it an acronym, or does it simply refer to its small size?

I wonder if the LS2 BGA chip can be easily exchanged with an
equivalent QFP, so that I can manufacture it at home.

In lieu of design files, could someone tell me what each pin on the
Linuxstamp II's 5 pin connector are ? I'm currently using the FTDI
cable for the power and the console, but would like to split them out.

Is there another connector I should use to supply power ?

OK, I add an eagle library for the headers as well as a image file to
here:

The pinout for the FTDI header can be found here:
http://www.ftdichip.com/Documents/DataSheets/Modules/DS_TTL232R3V3.pdf

The FTDI cable has the USB->Serial chip built into the plug. So the
header is just power + rx/tx lines.

They are pin compatible, one of the main differences is that the 9g20
has a built in pll for plla. So the schematic is for the 9260

Out of curiousity, what made it necessary to use six layers? Was it
the use of the BGA chip, or the desire to keep the board as small as
possible? Do you think it would be possible to lay it out using two
layers and a larger board size?

Hello Cris,

I don't think so.

In general, when designing boards using BGA packaging, it requires several layers. The problem is no really the board size, but the position where the pins are in the chip. BGA is a very dense pin package, with pin all over the footer of the chip.

I'm not sure, but for BGA packaging, 6 layers is the least possible, isn't it?
